Boat Lift Modifications
Most boat lifts can be modified to accommodate the “toons” of a pontoon boat. A simple kit can be added to an existing lift or even custom added to to a new lift. Boat Floater of Oklahoma has two lifts that are easily modified. The Classic Model boat lift and Free Floater boat lift are both high quality lifts to consider.
Free Floater Model
Free Floater pontoon boat lift. This model can also be modified to accommodate a Tritoon Boat.
The Free Floater model is an ideal lift for a pontoon boat because it is able to accommodate a wider frame. This is important if you have a narrow boat slip. For example many pontoon and tritoons have an 8.5′ stability beam. A tight fit in in a 10′ boat slip, so the Free Floater would be the best choice for an easy fit.
Classic Model
The Classic Model boat lift can also be modified to accommodate a pontoon boat. While most pontoons are best suited for the Free Floater model there are some unique situations where the classic model can be modified and more appropriate. For example, if your slip is short and your boat is long, the Classic Model travels up and forward when being raised. So your boat isn’t “hanging” outside the slip. In rough water areas, the Classic Model locks when it is in the up position, eliminating all bounce & sway. This reduces wear & tear on the boat and dock structures.
